Marietta gets off the mat and heads to the Conference Room for a return visit with ACAC members at Albemarle Square.
During her college summers, Marietta spent time with residents at The Virginia Home where her mother, June, worked in the Occupational Therapy Room. She writes in Leaving 1203: “I received an incomparable education at The Home, where residents played the hand dealt with style, grace, and humor. Each individual won my heart as I watched one after another seize every joy possible.”
Marietta celebrates St. Patrick’s Day in New Bern with a talk on two very different things.

Come for a taste of southern cooking and Sunday relaxation reminiscent of patio days celebrated in Leaving 1203. Executive Chef Harrison Keevil will serve up small plates of 1203 food for body and soul. Marietta will speak at 2pm and again at 4pm.
Marietta’s longtime work home is the scene for the Charlottesville launch of Leaving 1203. She returns to Piedmont Virginia Community College for what’s sure to be a lively time. Her talk and discussion will be in the Commons in the Dickinson Building with its beautiful view of the pond and mountains—formerly Marietta’s station for office hours before teaching her Honors philosophy classes.
Opening Day finds Marietta in her hometown of Richmond, the setting of Leaving 1203. She will speak in the Sisisky Room at the lovely Carol and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center, greeting old friends and making new ones, welcoming questions and shared experiences.
